Udelle’s Story

Before I discovered the Austin Clubhouse, I was unhoused and unemployed. For the most part, I was living out of my car and my sole income was SSDI. It felt like an uphill battle trying to sleep in my car while actively seeking employment.

When I came to the Clubhouse, I was amazed at the friendliness and amount of knowledge of resources available from the members and staff. As soon as I walked in, I felt welcome. Feeling like I was a part of a community helped me solve my problems.

Now, life feels more hopeful and I am less likely to feel like I have no options. I feel supported. I have a sense of belonging to a stable, trustworthy community.
